Celebrating 2021
After a long and enjoyable season (despite some of the results!), now is the time to look back and celebrate the achievements of many of our club members.
We value loyalty highly at Nazeing Common, and it was a privilege to be able to celebrate three members who have played in each of the last 30 seasons – so take a bow Darren Dack, Paul Johnson and Paul Elby. Congratulations also to Ross Edwards, who notched up his 500 the appearance during the season.
It is always great to mark major milestones being reached, and it was particularly pleasing to see Andy Humphrey and Josh Eke score their maiden centuries for the club, and Josh Stevens score 1,000 runs in the season. Alongside these firsts, Dan Reese reached 15,000 runs in total for the club, and Paul Johnson reached 20,000 exactly and then headed for the bar!
Awards are special when they are recognition from your peers, and this year’s honoured recipients of the club’s regular awards are:
Club Player of the Year and Saturday 1 st Team Player of the Year – Josh Stevens
Saturday 2 nd Team Player of the Year – Mike Prince
Sunday Player of the Year – Mark Pugsley
Young Player of the Year – Luke Rivers (and extra congratulations to Luke on becoming the
Herts and Essex Border League Premier Division Under 18 Player of the Year)
Club Member of the Year – Paul Quinn
Presidents Shield (for exceptional service towards junior cricket) – Sarah and Lee Walker
In addition to these awards, huge thanks and appreciation is due to the club’s committee members for all their hard work during the year; to those who have helped out with the running of the club in a variety of different ways; and to those who supported our juniors to have a safe and enjoyable cricket experience over the summer. Here’s looking forward to more of the same in 2022.
