The Peter Danes Pavilion - just two more weeks…

We are delighted to announce that work will commence on the new Peter Danes Pavilion on 15 August 2022.

This marks a major milestone in the club's history as we implement Peter's incredible legacy and build a brilliant new space for club and local community.

When work begins it will be over 900 days since the old pavilion roof was blown off in February 2020. Since then, we've experienced a global pandemic and managed almost three seasons of disruption at the Common.

Whilst the impact of Covid will continue to be felt for a long time, we are looking forward to welcoming members, opposition teams and guests to the new building from April 2023. The Pavilion will benefit the whole community as well as provide a sustainable long term home for cricket in the village.

Please sign up to the club’s mailing list at the bottom of this page to be kept in the loop about future events and opportunities.

As with all building projects, it has been a long and winding road to get to this stage. To secure building control approval, we have had to make a few changes to the original design. This has had two main impacts:

  • the length of the build has increased from six to eight months.

  • the cost of the project has gone up. This is driven by the increased cost of materials and the fact that changes to the design mean we’re going to have to buy more than we expected.

This does mean there is a gap in our funding plan. We are confident that we can fill this gap and are developing a detailed plan to manage the shortfall. It will include requests of local businesses, another push on our buy-a-brick campaign and applying for grants. If you would like to contribute or have any ideas around how we can raise funds, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Over the coming months we’ll provide regular updates on progress but if you have any questions please do email us and we’ll respond as quickly as possible.
