NCCC’s next generation
The Colts Summer has started!
Despite the weather, we have welcomed lots of children to the Common over the last month as we kicked off our summer of coaching. It’s been fantastic to see so many familiar faces as well as lots of new ones too.
Its a sign of the progress we’re making that we’ve entered our under 11s into a league. They’ve made a strong start, winning their first two games. We have used 12 different players already, showing the depth we are beginning to create in our younger age groups. As time moves on, we hope to further increase the numbers to enable us to field sides in a wider range or age groups.
As part of our efforts to develop our Junior section, we sent coaches into Nazeing Primary for a day of cricket. It felt like a bit step forward and was a huge success. We loved meeting and seeing the cricketing talent in the village. We hope to strengthen these bonds in the coming months and years.
Throughout every training session and game the focus is always on enjoyment. It’s been clear our junior members are taking their training on board, making lots of progress as individuals and as a team.
There have already been a few notable performances, with young Luke taking a hatrick in the very first over he has ever bowled in a cricket match. George has already started hitting 6s and the girls and boys are taking plenty of wickets, including taking 12 in one innings last week.
We are looking forward to the coming weeks of training and the games we have scheduled. Training takes place every Tuesday during the season at 6:30pm. Please follow the link to find out more.
We are also looking forward to seeing how the colts perform in our adult cricket throughout the season.
