Chairman’s State of the Nation: Exciting 2021 ahead!

Nazeing Common Cricket Club is 138 years old this season, and a lot has happened in that time – including surviving more than one global pandemic!  I know we are all desperate to see the back of the current one, and hopefully a degree of normality can return as the summer months unfold.

Like all our members, I’m hoping that sooner rather than later we will be able to socialise properly, and for cricket to be played without the need for temperature checks and sanitizer stops.  I’m also really looking forward to extending a warm welcome to more new members to the club, and seeing them settle into becoming part of the wider Nazeing Common family.

Excitingly, 2021 is also shaping up to be a transformational year in our long history.  In building the Pete Danes Pavilion, we will have for the first time a fantastic building to complement the glorious views we have over the surrounding countryside.  And we will also have the perfect space to welcome and engage with the local Nazeing community, not just around cricket but across the whole year.  We may be located at the top of the Common, but our aim is to be at the heart of the village.

From all at Nazeing Common Cricket Club to everyone we hope to see this year, wishing you a safe and enjoyable 2021

Peter Barker, Chairman
